Guwahati, Assam: Union Minister for Roads Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, marked a significant milestone today by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 26 National Highway Projects in Guwahati, Assam. These projects, with a collective investment exceeding ₹17,500 Crore, hold the promise of transforming the transportation landscape in the region.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including General VK Singh, Union Minister of State for Roads Transport and Highways, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, State Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and officials from NHIDCL.
Among the key projects inaugurated, the Dibrugarh-Tinsukia-Ledo initiative is set to enhance interstate connectivity between Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, bolstering strategic presence and fostering trade and tourism. Simultaneously, the Silchar to Lailapur section will bridge the Barak Valley with Mizoram, opening doors for socio-economic growth. NH-515 in Dhemaji District is poised to improve connectivity between North Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
NH-137 is expected to elevate connectivity in the Dima Hasao Region, offering an alternate route to Western Manipur. The Paikan to Guwahati Airport section is crucial in facilitating the Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Jogighopa. Furthermore, the construction of new bridges is set to alleviate congestion and contribute to enhanced trade, tourism, and overall socio-economic progress in the region.
